Migrating Stash 3.10.0 from SQL Server 2008 R2 to 2014.

Colin McCudden September 6, 2017

Hello, I am looking to migrate our Stash application from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2014 before upgrading to Bitbucket.

I am looking to create an empty 'STASH' database on the SQL Server 2014 server - and then use the 'Database Migration Tool' within Stash to point to the new database and migrate.  Is this approach with an empty target database the best approach.

Alternatively I would have backed up the original 'STASH' database from SQL Server 2008 R2 and restored it to the SQL Server 2014.  I would then just have re-pointed the configuration to the new database.

Can someone advise the best approach?

Hi Colin,

Your proposed apporach of simply creating an empty database and using the migration wizard is the recommended approach, and also the easiest.
