Leave a team that I created

Dan Greaves December 2, 2013

Hello,

A while ago, I created a few teams that are now utilised by a number of other users (and contain repositories). I have now left the companies that the teams relate to and would like to leave the team (without removing it).

However, as it was me that created the team, I can't seem to find a way to leave. Other users have been assigned to the Administrators groups for each team so it's not like the group would be left administator-less.

To leave your team, go to your Team Account overview page - ie https://bitbucket.org/yourteamnamehereand click on the Arrow next to 'Manage Members'. The option 'Leave Team' should appear at the bottom of the menu.

Clicking this will remove you from all groups related to the team, you will get a confirmation screen that indicates which groups you'll lose access to.

Thanks for your answer,
I tried to do the steps you explained above. Unfortuanelty, after selected 'Manage Members' from drop down list in the https://bitbucket.org/myteamnamehereredirected to the https://bitbucket.org/account/user/myteamnamehere/groups/ and couldn't see any 'Leave Team' option in this page. I can send snapshots if you need.

Hi, i have also the same issue. Created a team, worked in a while and leave the project. But cannot leave the team now. The project that i have created is still under development and have administrator(s). I don't even have any relation to the project right now, neither developer nor administrator. Isn't there any solution to this ?

There is a previous posting for this ... in a nutshell:

You'll need to either appoint another team member or delete the account. We intentionally do not allow a team to become orphaned in a way that no one would be able to control it.

How would I go about "appointing" another team member? There are plenty others already in the "Administrator" groups for each team so it would not be orphoned. It seems that this restriction should only be imposed if the person wishing to leave the team is the last administrator left in the team.

I would really appreciate an answer to this. It is not feasible to delete the team due to the number of repositories that are hosted there. It makes no sense for me not to be able to leave the team. The team will not be orphaned.
