Is there any way to use the Bitbucket REST API to handle git commands.

I'm new to everything and I went through the REST API documentation but couldn't get any helpful information.

What I basically want to do is

- pull a branch

- make changes to a file

- commit and push back to the repository

Can I achieve this using the REST API?
