Is there a bitbucket variable to get the commit message

Is there a bitbucket variable to get the bitbucket commit message. I could not find any on this link. https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/variables-and-secrets/

If not any suggestion how I many get that value?

Hi @t1279k ,

I don't believe that we have a variable to get the commit message of the commit that triggered the build, however there are different git commands that could be used for that purpose.

You could use in your yml file either of the following:

git log -n 1 --pretty=format:%s $BITBUCKET_COMMIT

or

git show -s --format=%B $BITBUCKET_COMMIT

Kind regards,
Theodora

Most other pipeline provider have this as an environment variable. Can you please have a feature request to be part of the bitbucket environment variable.

Hi @t1279k ,

We have a feature request for this in our issue tracker:

There was low demand for this feature in the time it was open, and as a result it was closed as 'Won't fix' since there is a workaround and the development team has been focusing on higher priority issues.

However, I went ahead and reopened it so we can see whether there is going to be more demand for this now.

I would suggest that you add your vote in that feature request (by selecting the Vote for this issue link) as the number of votes helps the development team and product managers better understand the demand for new features. You are more than welcome to leave any feedback, and you can also add yourself as a watcher (by selecting the Start watching this issue link) if you'd like to get notified via email on updates.

Implementation of new features is done as per our policy here and any updates will be posted in the feature request.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,
Theodora
