Improved SSH support for Stash, Crowd and LDAP

I'm not sure how to submit a feature request, so here it is.

As I understand Stash at the moment, a user can save their public key to their Stash account. Now, there is a documented objectClass of ldapPublicKey and an attribute of sshPublicKey. It would be fantastic if:

  • when Stash is configured to use LDAP as the user directory, it could pull SSH keys from there instead of getting users to save them locally.
  • when Stash is configured to use Crowd as the user directory, Crowd should be extended to sync public keys as well, so Stash can retrieve them.

That way, users only need to save their public keys once in the LDAP directory and they can be retrieved from more consuming applications.

Hi Philip,

Normally you are welcome to raise a feature request yourself at the following. It's always worth doing a search in that project first just to confirm someone hasn't already asked, and if they have I recommend voting on and watching the issue.

In this particular case this is really a Crowd feature request. Even when you configure LDAP we still rely on the Crowd library to handle everything. Until Crowd adds support for custom properties, like SSH keys, there isn't much we can do. These might be of interest:
