How to temporarily make a repository read-only

Dave Steffen May 4, 2020

A repository will be deleted soon; I'd like to make it read-only during the transition, so people can get to it, but no developers will be able to push to it.

There doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this, as the repo is under a parent project and inherits its access controls.

Hello @Dave Steffen ,

The easiest option I can think of would be to set a branch restriction for a pattern that matches all branches and not add anyone to write access list. This should work:

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Daniil

Aha -- I didn't see the "branch pattern" option.

Thanks very much!
