How many users can be given permission to a branch per repository?

Jewel Francis March 16, 2015

Hi Team,

When trying to give permission to a user for a branch of a repository in Stash one of the user is getting this error.

"The maximum number of branch (100) permissions have already been defined for this repository"

Is there any limit to the number of branch permissions per repo? What can we do to over come this limitation? What should we do if we need to add more users?

Warm Regards,

-Jewel

Did you define 100 branch restrictions with 1 user each or 1 branch restriction for 100 users?

You might want to try the other option. (The limit in the error above is either the users/branch restriction instance or the number of instances.)

On the Branch Permissions page of the repository, you will see something like the screenshot I added to the answer above. In the example, I have two rules, the first one contains no users and two groups, the second one two users and one group. Check this page for your repository. How many rules do you have? How many users/groups do you have in the largest rule?
