Fork my own fork?

I'm trying to setup a team fork but once I do that I can't fork the team fork for myself. Did I miss a configuration?

Sorry.. There's is no fork of a fork. You need to fork your own and the pull from the team's fork to your personal fork.

Not actually a true statement. You CAN fork a fork but not your own fork. Which seems arbitrary since it would simply follow the same rules on naming.
