Enabling core.longpaths on a Stash Windows host?

Colin Cornaby July 15, 2015

We're hitting path limits on Stash on Windows. msysgit has added support for long paths but it has to be enabled.

  • Is this supported with Stash?
  • How would I enable the option for Stash and Stash's user?

Stash uses MSysGit for Git operations, so if yo uenable this feature in Git itself, Stash should use it too.

That said, I would strongly recommend migrating Stash to a Linux instance, the Git implementation under Linux is so much more efficient that you can serve the same load with about half the CPU's and 1/4 of the RAM compared to the same server on Windows. (We did this earlier, the numbers above are my own experience, might be different for smaller/higher loads.)
