Hi @Devikarani Muddana,

Git version 2.17.1 - released date 22 May 2018

Bitbucket Server version 5.8.2 - released date 19 March 2018

Based on the above, When Bitbucket Server v5.8.2 was released Atlassian did not have any knowledge about the Git version to be released in two months time. Because of that Bitbucket Server 5.8.x - Supported platforms documentation does not have this Git version mentioned under DVCS section.

Even though this information is not available, you can refer to later Supported platforms documentation to review which Git versions Atlassian Bitbucket Server was tested against, where the example given suggests - The table below lists the versions of Git that have been specifically tested against the Bitbucket Server 5.16.x releases.

Linux | Windows

...

2.17.1 | 2.17.0

Since there are no disclaimer under DVCS section about notes and exceptions on specific Git version and that in the same documentation Atlassian suggests - We recommend using the most recent supported version of Git on both the Bitbucket Server instance and clients where possible...

Then there is/are no issue(s) on running Bitbucket Server with the Git version inquired.

Kind regards,

Rafael
