Disable public repositories for a team

Is it possible to decline the creation of a public repository for a certain team? Right now, when you create a new repository, you have the ability to specifically create a public repository, even though it is private by default.

Hi Wim-Jan, if you're using Bitbucket Cloud, then it won't be possible. Whoever creates the repo will always have the option to make it public.

If you're using Bitbucket Server, you might find this thread helpful.

Best regards,

Hi Ana,

Can we please request this feature?

To mitigate the risk of projects unintentionally being made public, it would be great for an admin to be able to globally disable public repo creation or approve public repo requests.

There's any feature request tracking this ?

We shall be able to allow developers to create repositores without compromising security.  Creating repositories is something every developer should have access to, make a new or old repo public should not be done by any developer.

I'll add another vote for this feature request. Our organization is currently evaluating different source control technologies, and we consider the lack of this feature a deal breaker. We want to make sure a mistake in a single configuration option makes our internal IP public, and we would prefer a cloud hosted solution instead of a self-hosted solution.

Can you report back on the request for this feature?

This should be flagged as a DEFECT not FR

There should be a default setting at the team level.  Users should not have the ability to make a new repo public, that's extremely risky.
