Crucible/Fisheye support for earlier Mercurial (pre 1.5)

Greg Sandell July 19, 2011

I'm evaluating Crucible and hit a wall on the requirements for Mercurial 1.5 or higher. The timing is bad for us now to upgrade our 1.4.3 Mercurial. Is there any earlier release of Crucible/Fisheye that supports Mercurial 1.4.3?

Although Fisheye/Crucible only supports Mercurial 1.5.1 and above (from 2.3 onwards) you may still be able to use FishEye, provided you are able to use a supported version of Mercurial on the server which runs FishEye. Mercurial's Wire Protocol allows repositories created with older versions of mercurial to be cloned with a newer one (and visa versa). This means that provided the repository URL in FishEye is a wired one (i.e. not local file system. e.g. ssh, http, https) you should be able to get FishEye working.

Mercurial does sometimes introduce incompabilities in the wire protocol

The first version of Fisheye/Crucible to support mercurial was 2.3 and it also required Mercurial version 1.5.1. So, unfortunately, the answer to you question is no.
