Create admin user in Bitbucket Internal Directory

Philip Steinebrunner January 8, 2016

Hi

We have deleted the default administrator user from the internal directory. Now we need this user again for backing up Bitbucket Server with the backup client. For personal user accounts we use Delegated LDAP Authentication. If we create a new user we can´t decide if it should use internal or LDAP authentication - so how can we create an internal user?

Thank you!
Cheers Philip

Oh I got it. You have to:

  1. Change the order of the User Directories so that the Bitbucket Internal Directory is the first one
  2. Now create the user
  3. Change back the order of the User Directories

That's right and we think it a good practice to keep an admin user inside of the internal directory so that you can get into the tool of the external directory has problems (like someone changes the password to the bind account you use).

Thats true! But this user also needs a license. It would be awesome if we could keep this "administrator" user without wasting a license.
