Can we store > 2gb in a repository if we use GIT LFS?

Scott Moore January 9, 2020

We have a VCS repository that is approximately 2.5 GB, made up of 1.5GB of versioned binary files and about 1GB of other source content.

If we enable GIT LFS storage for the binary files in this repo, can we store it in Bitbucket (assuming 1.5GB in LFS, 1GB not -- all in the SAME repo)?

Hello @Scott Moore,

Yes, repository quota of 2 GB is for files stored under Git and can't be extended, while LFS quota is separate and can be extended if needed (see details here). Note that LFS quota is for the entire account, not per repository.

A file stored in Git LFS contributes only a very small pointer text file into repository size.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Daniil
