Can't start bitbucker server because of JAVA_HOME

Noah Hradek October 17, 2019

On a CentOS Release 7.7.1908 server

The server bitbucket had been running on had been moved and restarted and now when I try and start bitbucket back up it says

The JRE_HOME environment variable is not defined correctly
This environment variable is needed to run this program
Edit set-jre-home.sh and define JRE_HOME

I modified the location of JAVA_HOME to the correct one in /etc/profile and it shows it correctly now but it's still giving the same error. How can I fix the error

Hi Noah,

What path did you set JRE_HOME (this is different from JAVA_HOME) to in <BitbucketInstall>/bin/set-jre-home.sh?

Cheers,

I fixed it already, there was apparently a separate bitbucket user that I didn't know about since I didn't set it up. Switching to that user and setting JAVA_HOME in bashrc to the correct path fixed it.
