Can I roll back Stash to an older version using the data backed up from a newer version?

Rob Jackson April 1, 2015

As part of a roll back plan I need to know if I can use the data from a backup of the current running version, then restore that data to an older version of data.

The documentation for downgrading is not clear if the backup is of current data or data from a previous version.

I assume you mean 'then restore that data to an older version of Stash'?

The data in a backup is compatible with the Stash version it was backed up from. In general that will not be compatible with older versions of Stash (because there may have been schema changes, upgrade tasks, etc). If you want to downgrade to an older version of Stash, you'll have to restore a backup from a version <= the Stash version you want to downgrade to.
