Can BitBucket or Stash be hosted on an internal Windows server?

Dave August 4, 2015

We use git on a local Windows Bonobo server due to HIPAA laws potentially making it risky to host our code externally (and nobody knew how to setup Linux), so does Atlassian provide a local Windows server install?

Hi Dave,

Yes, Stash actually must be hosted by you. To clarify, Stash and Bitbucket are very similar (they differ in a few features), but while Bitbucket is hosted in Atlassian's Cloud, Stash is a solution to be hosted internally.

For specific instructions on how to install Stash please refer to https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/STASH/Running+the+Stash+installer - this doc contains instructions both for Linux and Windows.

You can install Stash on Windows. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/STASH/Getting+started
