BitBucket Server preventing my Linux server from starting up

Steve Swett July 25, 2016

Our network administrator rebooted a Linux server that Bitbucket Server is installed on.  It won't complete the boot process.  The last thing displayed is the following:

"To run Bitbucket in the foreground, start the server with start-bitbucket.sh -fg

Starting Atlassian Bitbucket as dedicated user atlbitbucket"

Bitbucket Server was an experiment for us – installed back in January.  We have since gone forward with Bitbucket Cloud.  How do I get my Linux server running/booted again so that I can uninstall Bitbucket Server?

Boot Linux in single user mode.  Uninstall Bitbucket server (or at least use chkconfig to prevent it from booting), and then reboot.
