Bamboo External DB clarification

Venkatesh R November 23, 2017

Bamboo suggests to use an external db and not embedded db, when it comes for production setup, which is a better choice MySQL / Oracle ?

As per my understanding this DB will be storing the job details and other information related to the Jobs and users. So it is an critical part.

have any one come across issue while using Mysql, because of the growing size of the data based on day to day activity ?

If you are integrating Bamboo with Jira, are we suppose to use the same DB ?

Hi Venkatesh,

We have seen performance issues with MySQL-based databases in Bamboo for very large instances (thousands of plans and millions of test cases and results), so Oracle may be the better option. In general the best database to use is the one that you have the skills for in house, i.e. if you have Oracle databases available and you have an Oracle DBA, then go for Oracle.

There is no need to use the same database type for all products, whether they are integrated or not, so you can mix and match as you please.
