Automated way of adding repos to FishEye

buildmonkey September 6, 2012

Rather than using the web interface to add a repository, do we have another mechanism to modify the config.xml and then have this immediately picked up by fisheye rather than have to restart the service?

Fisheye had (maybe still has) an 'Admin API' that allowed to inject XML directly into config.xml, but it's completely undocumented -- the only useful trace I've found is https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/FE-3465

Hi,

The recommended way of adding repositories is using the web interface, to avoid editing the config.xml manually. It's not recommended to edit the config.xml directly, because some elements may won't be closed correctly, or may have incorrect syntax, etc, and these kind of problems will block your instance from starting up the next time you try.

We don't have any other mechanism or tool to modify this file, so if you want to modify this file manually please make sure to create a safety copy of this file, so you can revert changes if anything goes wrong.

Also, as this is a configuration file, every time you modify it manually you'll need to restart the FishEye instance in order to pick up changes.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
