Why do we choose a language for Bitbucket pipeline.yml?

I am preparing to move from the AWS CodeDeploy add on to Pipelines but I'm missing something. Why do we need to chose a language to run the pipeline.yml. Isn't it just bash scripts to initialize AWS creds?

Hi @gbrown

Pipelines wizard asks for that when creating the bitbucket-pipelines.yml. Based on what you select for the language a different template for the bitbucket-pipelines will be suggested. With that, you could have the docker image with the dependencies needed to compile that language and other scripting commands that will probably be needed.
It is just a suggestion and you can adjust and change whatever you want.
