That seems a pretty reasonable question and I didn't have tried that in pipelines before. Thanks to you I tested it now =]
You will need to use the command
wherever you decide if the condition to stop is met.
You could use a bash if-then-else. e.g.
if [ $var == 'stop' ]; then exit 0; fi
