This is the 35th of our Monday Night Specials, a series of virtual events with voices from the Atlassian ecosystem.
Project management tools become less valuable once development actually starts. So why do companies use a tool that only works for a few PMs, when dozens or hundreds of engineers dislike it? The root of this is actually a problem with culture, management or process.
Dan Lines, COO at LinearB , wrote a blogpost in August that made quite a few waves (and had a much harsher title back then), and we are very happy that he is willing to discuss this with us. This is an important discussion, because Jira - in our humble opinion - has lost ground with software developers and we observe that many do not see it as an enabler for modern software development anymore, but as an obstacle. Just google "Jira is an Antipattern" (or ask a software developer ;-) ) and it may not even be Jira's fault.
So what is wrong, if anything and most importantly: can it be fixed and if yes, how? We want to hear from you. (Also: Interesting continuation of our "Freedom to choose the right tool for the job" discussion this week)
