Why would Bamboo branch builds be blocked?

Craig Brown October 3, 2016

Using Bamboo version: Atlassian Bamboo version 5.8.1 build 5866 - 16 Mar 15

We have a number of build plans that use branch builds without any problems, using shared repositories from our Stash server.

I've created another plan that uses a different shared repository from the same Stash server.  The build works fine when building from master.  However, when attempting to build from a branch, the build shows as queued, but never appears in the Build Activity Queue.  The build hangs forever and there is no information in the logs as to why its blocked.

Hello @Craig Brown,

Great your issue was solved. Atlassian Answers is not a good place to get feedback on such kind of questions, next time if you see some unexpected behaviour from Bamboo please create request at support.atlassian.com

On Monday, after a weekend of inactivity on the Bamboo server, the branch builds are now working.

No restarts or configuration changes on the server since the last build failure.

Happy that its now working, frustrated at the lack of information in the server logs to troubleshoot this problem.

We restarted the Bamboo server, but the branch builds continued to be blocked and never reach the Build Activity Queue.
