Why does my git checkout not work ?

I am running bamboo elastic solution and this is my log when doing a code checkout from my Git bitbucket account:

not sure why its running "git version" for ?

if I do a git clone via a script it works fine and its downloaded

I found the answer below which looks very similar to your case. This looks to be related to a different version of Git between Bamboo Agent and Server. Please have a look:

Firstly thanks for taking the time to respond.

Yes its windows, as for cygwin ... all the AWS elastic images provided by Atlassian has cygwin git installed so I assume it would work. The only versions that dont are old images running on 2008 servers but considering this is using their default image and their default run job then I am guessing that would work.

I am assuming that's Windows, I am not familiar with the elastic thing. Are you sure the cygwin git works in bamboo? I have been always using Git for Windows.
