Using variables for bamboo source repository credentials

Is there a way to use a bamboo variable to configure credentials for source repositories in a plan ?

I tried creating a variable for the repo's username and password (which got masked automatically), but using them, I was not able to save the repository configuration, as the variable values were not getting applied at the time of save.

Currently, the credentials are hardcoded inside the source repository configuration, but I want it to be entered while running the plan (as Run -> Customized)
