Using both Branch Updater and Gatekeeper on the same branch in Bamboo

I am currently evaluating Bamboo and am trying to wrap my head around how Gatekeeper and Branch Updater works. My company would like to use both. Like this: if I commit something in my branch and the build succeeds it automatically gets merged with the mainline (Gatekeeper) the changes to the mainline then gets merged with my team mates branches iff the build succeeds after those merges (Branch Updater). Is this possible? From the UI it looks like we have to pick one or the other, either Branch Updater or Gatekeeper. How do we enable both?

No, unfortunately it's not possible. It's not easy to mimick this functionality with scripts either, sorry.

That was unfortunate. Are there any plans to implement this?

Is there any recommended solution to this? I feel as if this is a fairly normal use case that Bamboo does not support.
