System information - Memory statistics discrepancy

Jon Stalnaker January 18, 2018

Our JVM has the following stats:

Heap Memory 73% free
Max Heap Size 6144MB
Total Alloc Mem 6144MB
Used Mem 1674 MB
Free Alloc Mem 4469MB
Total Free Mem 4469MB

But when I go to our Bamboo admin page, I get the following:

Memory statistics

Total memory1747 MB

Free memory355 MB

Used memory1392 MB

I do not have access to the server that this is hosted on and cannot configure it myself, but I would expect the Total memory from the System Info screen to match the JVM.  Am I wrong in this?

You can change the JVM parameters of Bamboo as described at https://confluence.atlassian.com/bamboo/configuring-your-system-properties-289277345.html

Having said that, you might not need all the memory you have in the server. Allocate only what is needed for your application. It is okay to have Bamboo using only 2GB even if your server has an 8GB RAM.

Hi Jobin,

I don't know how your answer is flagged as accepted but the question seems unresolved. Same problem applies in our Bamboo instance too. Total memory statistics does not show the settings which are applied via setenv.sh.
