Is it possible to use sudo to run commands on a stock elastic image?

Patrick Evans October 19, 2012

I need to install some dependecies before my tests execute and it sure would be nice to be able to do something like:

sudo yum install some_package

I've tried this and of course sudo asks for a password, which I don't have and can't provide. Is there a workaround for this? Everything in the docs points towards doing an EBS volume or a custom AMI, but before I go down that road I thought I would ask.

The simplest approach is to use an instance setup script and either install the dependencies using it or add bamboo user as a paswordless sudoer.

You can edit your instance setup script by clicking edit on image configuration.
