How long does a "downloaded" artifact live in a deployment plan?

Does the artifact downloaded into a deployment plan still exist after the build plan's results have been cleaned?

Yes, it is a copy of the artifact and it resides in the agent where the deployment plan ran. You need to clean the directory after the deployment or have another script that clears those directories on a regular basis.

Most deployments start with a 'clean working directory' task and that will clean it up as well during the next deployment!
