Using Bamboo 5.1 with SVN to release Hotfix into production. Our usual process is to create a branch from the current production tag and then deploy the HF branch into production.
The Bamboo documents refer to Feature branches which of course NEVER get released into prod env, however there doesn't seem to be much recognition of release or hotfix/patch branches.
Out current workaround involves changing the repository URL from /trunk/v1 to /branch/v1.1, then triggering a manual build, creating a release, then reverting the repos URL back to /trunk.
The best practice WIKI refers to Release/Hotfix branches but does not indicate how releases are created for these types of branches. Feature/Release/HF branches all have semantic differences for example Release branch is never merged to Master/Head, Hotfix is never merged from Master/Head, Feature is never released to prod etc
Can someone please help explain how production releases for Release or Hotfix/Patch branch should be managed in Bamboo using SVN?
Yes it does. In the Plan Configuration you can go to the Branches tab, click "Create Branch" and select the branch you've created for the hotfix. If you enable it, you'll be able to configure a build from this branch, and leave the trunk build parameters as is.
