Current generation EC2 instance types unavailable in configuration

Ryan McDonnell November 21, 2013

The latest generation of EC2 instance types (M3 and C3) are not available as instance types when configuring an elastic image. Why is that? Will be become available in the near future?

They are missing, because Amazon does not provide an API that would let you list all available instance types and each new type has to be manually added.

There's a good chance that the new instances will be included in OnDemand within 5.3 release timeframe - but as you said, there's no timetable for that for now.

Looks to be in development, althought no timetable given yet.
