Connecting 2 bamboo instances

Oran Halberthal November 24, 2017

I have a bamboo instance running on Ubuntu that builds linux microservices.

I'd like to add support for DB CI to my pipeline using reg-gate products which only run on Windows servers.

The options I can think of are:

1. Create a remote build agent on a windows server that will handle the build/deployment tasks

2. Install a full instance of bamboo on a windows server

I'm not sure if any of the above are possible or if there are any other options.

Any advice would be highly appreciated

Thanks

While 2 is possible (Bamboo supports Windows just fine), I would highly recommend against running two Bamboo servers just for this reason, because it will unnecessarily increase your infrastructure cost and operational complexity.

Option 1 is therefore the recommended and widely used approach: Provided your license supports remote agents, it is perfectly fine and one of Bamboo's main value propositions to run an arbitrary variety of agents depending on your specific build environment requirements.
