Changing MySQL character set to utf8

Abhi Vaishnav [X] March 27, 2012

Hi,

If my current DB character set is utf8 and I have to change it to utf8, will that affect my bamboo server that is already running on the machine?

I am trying to install fisheye on the same physical machine that runs bamboo. For fisheye, I need utf8 character set and collate for my mysql db.

It is current set at latin1 for both(character set and collate).

If I change it to utf8 my setting

mysqld

character-set-server=utf8

in /etc/my.cnf, will that cause my bamboo server to misbehave?

Hi Abhi,

As describe here: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BAMBOO40/MySQL+5.1

The recommended configuration for Bamboo database encoding is also UTF-8. So I believe changing it to UTF-8 should not be a problem for Bamboo.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,
