Bamboo LDAP sync does not work

Jozsef Lehocz October 12, 2017

Hello,

We have modifed or LDAP org structure, moved users to different org unit.

We also updated the atlassian-user.xml and ehcache.xml config files accordingly.

However Bamboo does not sync the new location and new groups.

Does anyone have experience or suggestion to solve this?

Hi Jozef,

  • Did you restart Bamboo after making those changes?
  • Do you see any sync errors in the Bamboo logs?

At this point I would restart Bamboo if you have not and take a look at the logs to see what Bamboo is reporting, e.g. errors, etc.

If you find errors and nothing stands out please paste the log snippet here where it fails to sync and we'll go from there.

Finally, you can also setup debug logging and test the connection and make sure it's valid using the information in Testing LDAP or Active Directory connectivity with Paddle:

Paddle is a tool that will test the LDAP or Active Directory settings in your atlassian-user.xml.

Use this to test your connection and settings and verify it returns good data.

Cheers,

Branden

Hi Branden,

Thank you for your suggestion. We edited atlassian-user.xml accidentally in inappropiate directory under

/opt/...

,instead of under

/var/...

After editing the atlassian-user.xml under /var as it described in documentation the synchonization is working.

Does anyone know what is the purpose of the atlassian-user.xml file under /opt/... folder?

Cheers,

Jozsef
