Importing Test cases to Zephyr add-on from Test link.

Is there any way to Import test cases from Testlink, or from a .XML file to Zephyr add-on for JIRA?

Hi there,

I am using a MAC OS computer and I'm trying to import some testcases from an excel document, but I'm getting the following error:

Some notes here:

Steps: remove emty steps from your XLS file.

Labels: 1. Should not have spaces (i.e., "Smoke test" is wrong; "smoke_test" is ok). 2. You may have 2 lables in on cell (i.e., "smoke_test, functional_test").

Components: 1. May have spaces. 2. Should be defined in Jira.

Priority: Should be defined in Jira (I exported from Zephyr app, so I had P1 - P5. Replace with Major, Minor,...).

Epic Link: I was not able to import links (I had Epics in Jira and I was trying with full link, short link, i.e., PRO-22, or name of epic, or subject of epic - nothing works).

Import takes time. In my case it was around 1-2 test cases every sec.

Hi Sri,

It looks like the error is saying what is going on. When you are importing test cases into Zephyr for JIRA, which fields are you importing into? It looks like you have some required fields in JIRA that you need to add in your import. It looks like the following fields are required in your JIRA to create a ticket:

Description is required.",

"duedate":"Due Date is required."

"components":"Component/s is required

"fixVersions":"Fix Version/s is required."

"versions":"Affects Version/s is required."

So you have two options.

1) You can add these fields to your excel sheet and imiport them into Zephyr for JIRA. Since it appears that these fields are manditory in JIRA you will need to also import them in.

2) You can make these fields not be manditory in JIRA while you import in. So temporarily remove the manditory lock on these fields in JIRA, import the test cases in, then put the manditory lock back on the custom fields.

we wan't to import XLS-Files into Jira with your importer. We created a XLS-File, connected to Jira, filled out all important column fields, received a successfull message, but nothing was imported. What's the problem? Do you wan't to see the XLS-File, too?

Jira and Zephyr are being inrtoduced into our project. We have thousands of test cases stored in TestLink. I tried to import a few test cases, but Importer (ver. 0.27) returned some errors:

ERROR [pool-2-thread-1] TestLinkImporterManagerImpl.find FldConfigAndPopulateCustomField(213) | No mapping found for customField testcase.externalId, skipping custom field

The same for testcase.preconditions and testcase.execution_type fields.

Finally, there's

FATAL [pool-2-thread-1] TestLinkImporterManagerImpl.processEvents(149) | Error in creating testcase, skipping to nextUnexpected response code: 405

What you can do is if you have any questions about the importer you can email us screen shots or example XML files to see why you are getting any failed imports. As for our team helping with a larger migration we can direct you towards pofessionaly services. They can assist in a larger migration for an additional charge. If you are interested in this please let us know we can set you up.

A few things to note on the xml importer:

1) There are standard fields that will always import when using the XML importer. Those standard fields are
- name
- summary
- importance
- keywords
- steps

These standard fields are important to note because you do not have to map anything. Just go ahead upload it and then start the import. I have attached an image as well to help you get started called 'XML import.png'.

2) If you have custom fields you will want to use the exact same name as the custom field in the xml file to the right. I have attached an image 'CML importCustField.png'.

3) If you have a standard field of testlink but not standard in JIRA. You will need to map these as well. You will map them to the right column under 'XML Column'. They must follow the format of 'testcase.execution_type' or 'testcase.externalID'. Etc. I have attached an image on this as well labeled 'XML importMapping'.

Hi Olid,

I must have read your question too fast and for some reason had excel on the brain. Anyway, we are currently working on an XML importer that is in beta version right now. Althought it is in Beta you are more than welcome to test it out! If it works for you great, if not then you may need to wait a little bit until it is officially released. Note: It works with Testlink only.

Hi Emily, I was just looking for this one.

I am planning to test it by importing around 1K test cases.

Could you please let me know what kind of problems should I expect to have with it? Would your team be able to support us with such a migration?
