migration from server to cloud

Erkan Atalgın December 9, 2019

Hi,

I have two questions about migration.

1- After migration; Will there be data on the server? So, if the cloud fails, can I continue through the server?

2- I can try migration on server but i have an error: "We can't communicate with your server". My server connect atlassian server, i can connect atlassian server on server. And my server serve all internet, so the ports 80,443 open all internet.

thanks

Hello Erkan,

Thanks for posting your question in our Community, we hope to help you with this issue using our Cloud Migration assistant and as well other customers with similar problems.

1. Yes, the data will be kept on your server for as long as you manage your on-premise environment, additionally, we don't recommend you keep adding data on your server environment unless you want to maintain both environments, which may be your use case, to reassure you our Cloud environment isn't fail-proof however, we can assure you that it is less possible that an event will cause your Cloud to fail and you would end-up losing data than in our in house server.

If you want you can check our documentation on our reliability program.

2. This does look like an environment issue between your on-premises and our Cloud environment, please, if you have any network appliances that need to whitelist our IP's and domains make sure to do it before using the assistant.

Additionally, this problem might be caused by uBlock add-on your browser:

CCMA throws errors with Ad Blocker - uBlock Origin installed

Also, worth checking the following KB's:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/java-net-unknownhostexception-exceptions-in-confluence-log-file-due-to-dns-lookups-failing-394465548.html

https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/cloud-migration-assistant-for-confluence-973486571.html

Ultimately, you can also try to Restore the Cloud Migration Assistant for Confluence to the default version.

And if you continue to have issues with the Cloud Migration Assistant, please, contact our Cloud migration team, one thing that we would need is a support zip, if you open a ticket with us, make sure to send the support zip, it will contain the logs and environmental details of your server.

Thanks! I hope this helps!

Best Regards,
