Hi @khushboo_puri, everything @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- mentioned above is correct!

In addition, the easiest way to compare which server apps are available on cloud, view migration paths, and make business decisions (must have / no longer needed), we recommend downloading the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant

Within the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, there is functionality called App Assessment that will help you start this process. For more info, click here

Finally, we also offer a live webinar which covers the migration process (including apps) where you can ask questions - or watch on-demand. Click here to register.

Best,

Miles

Hello @khushboo_puri

I'm Angelica from EaseSolutions, vendor of R4J plugin. As the others have mentioned, Server and Cloud solutions are completely different as they are built with different frameworks.

Good news is we're currently building R4J for Cloud right now! If your interested in being notified for Beta access, please contact our service desk portal so that we can update you better about the application.

You may also refer to this page Our plans for R4J Cloud for our roadmap for the main features. We will offer special conditions for customers having already a Server/Datacenter version bought.

Thank you and best regards,
Angelica

Hello @khushboo_puri

Good news! R4J Cloud has been released last month, November.

If you have questions and are interested in a demo of the Cloud version, please reach out to us through our support portal. We'd be happy to hear any feedback on the application.

Best regards,
Angelica

No

Cloud and Server are two totally separate pieces of software and have completely different frameworks for apps.

There are some apps that have the same name on both systems, but they are two totally different applications.  As an example, Scriptrunner for Jira Server and Scriptrunner for Jira Cloud are not only different packages, our product team had to write SR4JC from scratch, and did it with a different technology for SR4JS.

Because of the fact they're different software, you also cannot assume the data is the same.  Some apps do have migration paths which enable you to do a relatively simple migration from Server to Cloud, some apps lean mostly or entirely on Jira data so you don't have to think about them, and some are having their migrations enabled in the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant.

But.  You will have to check each one of your apps individually.  We can't tell you what you have or whether there's a migration.  For each app, ask the questions:

  • Is there a cloud product from the same vendor
  • If so, is there a migration path from our Server version to current cloud
  • If not, is there something else that can do the job
  • Do we really need the functions this app provides
  • Do we really need the data behind the app, or could we start clean
  • Why do we have this app and could we be better off using native functions, a different app, or dumping it
