Delete attachments and notes depending on the status of the ticket

Steffen Birnbaum July 2, 2021

Hello,

it is possible to delete attachments and comments. Is it possible to deactivate this function for all tickets only with the status "closed"? As long as a ticket is still being processed, it should be possible. When it is closed, the ticket should no longer be changeable.

Thanks for Tips

With the right permissions you can delete all comments and attachments. You should change your permission scheme accordingly see: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/managing-project-permissions-938847145.html

For deactivating this function in the status closed see: https://www.j-tricks.com/tutorials/permissions-based-on-workflow-status

If you want to make the issues not editable on a specific status, you need to add properties to the status (not the transition's):

  • Key: jira.issue.editable
  • Value: false

and for comments:

  • Key: jira.permission.comment
  • Value: denied

Hello @Steffen Birnbaum

I am also a newbie, so not sure if my comments will make sense.

I generally don't allow agents to delete the attachments or comments.

What about removing permission when the issue is in a Closed Status?

Hello Robin,

Project permissions are reflected in all the issues.

If we changed permissions in the project all the issues will be impacted.

Thanks,

Anvesh

@Robin Stemmers

In the following case, it makes sense to delete attachments during the ticket lifecycle:
If you carry out an analysis and document it e.g. in Excel, you can attach it to the ticket.
If you later realize that you have to repeat the analysis because you have changed your procedure or the input data was incorrect or a other mistake, it makes sense to exchange the file. Otherwise it is difficult to keep an overview.
