My Posts Keep Getting Tagged "In Moderation"

Is anyone else experiencing this? A few of my posts disappeared from my profile and now anytime I make a post it either disappears like the others or gets tagged "In moderation"

The last time this happened again was yesterday!

I wonder if that would happen to this post too. Can anyone help, please?

Hi Pelumi,

The anti-spam bots are the main reason for moderation, but human moderators can also mark things as spam or remove them.

There are a few things that get picked up on which make it likely to be pushed to moderation:

  • The obvious one is that the content is complete junk (absolutely not the case for your post, but I do not want to leave it out in case other people land here when asking about lost posts).  This can kick in when people post logs though, which is not great.
  • Links to non-Atlassian posts
  • Links like "hey read my post" instead of answering a question
  • Posts written by AI, especially when not checked by a human who has any understanding of Atlassian stuff
  • It's an advert, without any declaration that you are advertising
  • Posts that do not identify your relationship with Atlassian stuff.  Most people don't need to think about that, but partners (of all types), leaders, and Atlassians do need to.

In this case, I could find that you have posted something that breaks pretty much every rule of posting, so it has gone to moderation.

I'm not going to repost the offending parts, but the (hopefully anonymised without destroying what you need to understand what was picked up as "wrong") gist was:

"I had a look at some stuff, and here's a link to another site where I explain it"

This immediately breaks the guideline that a post should answer the question or explain the problem and solution without leaving Community.

Thank you @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-  for the response, this is helpful.

I'm asking this just so I understand the rules clearly, For my recent post that went into moderation I have seen quite similar posts in the community (with links to an external post). In that instance, the post on the community just felt like a way of distributing the original post.

Does this rule then only apply to some accounts? or maybe because I only recently started posting in the community?

No, the rules apply to everyone, but the bots do look at an account's history - if you've had stuff marked for moderation before, then they are more likely to mark your next posts as needing moderation.

Links to non-Atlassian stuff in themselves are not a problem, they just make it more likely that a post will go to moderation.  It's more about whether the post answers the question or adds (useful) information to the conversation.  "Look at this external thing" is not a good answer to "How do I do X with an Atlassian product"
