What makes a good Retro Meeting?

Katerina Schadrin May 21, 2024

Struggling to keep your team on track?

Learn how consistent, insightful retrospectives can be the game-changer you need.

Here are some best practices to elevate your retrospectives:

- Inclusive Participation:

Involve the entire team, including product owners, for diverse insights.

- Dedicated Space:

Ensure a comfortable, separate space for open discussion.

- Structured Process:

Use a whiteboard or flip chart to organize feedback, and allocate 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on team size and frequency.

- Effective Tools:

Utilize tools like Standuply for Slack or Retrium for structured feedback and seamless integration.

Remember, consistency is key!

Make retrospectives a regular habit to continuously improve and adapt. Let's drive excellence together!

Consistency is the key - I couldn't agree more :)

It is worth ensuring that the meeting is standardized - it will help, for example, by providing a ready-made template that can be pasted into the issue and used every time. I created some templates to copy here, including retrospective planning.

As a team, we believe the most important aspect of a great retro meeting is creating actionable items to ensure that retrospectives lead to meaningful improvements and drive the team forward.

We’ve developed an excellent solution that enables us to run retrospective sessions in Slack, offering a variety of features, including the ability to create action items. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking such an app. :) https://actioner.com/app-directory/retrospective-89
