Recording working time (Attendance)

Markus Zurbrüggen December 28, 2022

Hello,

In Europe, in this case specifically in Germany, companies are now obliged to record working time (Attendance) completely. This does not mean the work on a specific issue in Jira, but the working time itself. This means check in in the morning, check out in the evening, breaks, etc.
How do you do this in Jira? Or are there already comprehensive add-ons that can be used, for example, to manage overtime or similar?

I am excited to hear your suggestions.

Hello @Markus Zurbrüggen

The built in time tracking and reporting capabilities are very limited. To "categorize" time you would have to have Issues to represents the different categories. There is no built in reporting options for reporting the time logged per person per day.

Are you already using Jira to track the time worked for issues?

There are multiple third party apps available related to time tracking. You can find then here in the Atlassian Marketplace.

The point of Jira is tracking work against issues. If you need to comprehensively track time beyond the work done on issues I would recommend you consider a tool that is geared specifically to time tracking separate from Jira.
