Hi everybody,

I would like to introduce you to and get feedback about a free plugin we just published in the marketplace.

As a partner we work with tens, maybe hundreds of different JIRA systems and most of the time it is hard to get a grip on details of a system. JIRA has very flexible configuration options but this also makes it very hard to see what is used where.

For this reason we created a plugin for our internal use. "OBSS JIRA Admin Tools". Proved itself to be very useful. Now we published it on the marketplace as a free plugin so others may use it as well. You can get it from marketplace for free:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/tr.com.obss.plugin.jiraAdminUtils/server/overview

Details of the plugin:

This plugin was especially created to see where configuration entities are used in the system. For example there are custom fields, conditions, validations, post-functions introduced by plugins you install on your system and there is no way to see where those are used. If you want to uninstall a plugin, you have to go through all custom fields, screens, schemes and workflows to find where these are used. Our plugin has 2 modules to go through all these for you and show it to you as a summary.

It also has a Workflow Summary module that shows a selected JIRA workflow in a single page. You see, in JIRA it is not possible to see entire details of a workflow in a single browser page. You can see the transitions but details of a transition is on another page. You can see the details of a transition, but you lose the whole picture.  This module shows a selected JIRA workflow as a single page that shows all transitions, screens, custom fields, conditions, validations, post-functions. This makes it very easy to get a grip on the overall workflow.

It also has a Log Viewer module, which allows you to see server logs in JIRA server's "logs" folder, without having access to JIRA server file system.

Finally it has a user module that show where in the system a selected user is defined in. It currently shows the user groups that user is a member and also shows project roles where the user takes place (either directly or through a user-group). This module will probably be extended in the future to show more information.

This is all of it for the moment. This plugin proved itself to be very useful for us. I hope others benefit from it too.

Any feedback is welcome. You can reach OBSS through servicedesk.obss.com.tr or by sending a mail to plugin@obss.com.tr.
