New feature announcement: Perfectionate resource management with the Workload View πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

We achieved great results in visualizing what teammates are working on and planning their work ahead even across projects. But the thing we were still missing to get full power is the Workload View that we’re super happy to announce!

What is the Workload View for?

The workload is an ideal match for those looking for a way to easily allocate work based on the maximum daily capacity so that you can make sure you don’t overwhelm people or, on contrary, underload them.

How does it work?

Once the Workload View is on, you get the workload indicators above Jira issues. Based on the estimation, daily capacity, and task duration, the indicators change showing whether you’re exceeding the maximum daily capacity, have more working hours to fill, or if they perfectly fit. 

But all the magic is about simplicity. By stretching an issue for more days or rescheduling work to other days, you can easily balance your team workload and optimize it the best way.

How to set it up?

The Workload View is set up in three simple steps:

  1. Set up the Working hours per day jira-workload-settings.png
  2. Set up the Original Estimate jira-workload-estimation.png
  3. Open the Workload View jira-workload-tab-and-fields.png

Looks great! If a person works on more than one task, would the height of the bar adjust according to the percentage of time for each task? Are there over-load or under-utilised indicators for team members?

Hi @Ulrich Kuhnhardt _IzymesCo_ thanks for asking ^_^ The height of the bar adjusts according to the number of tasks assigned to a person, but not according to the percentage of time allocated for each item. All tasks on the timeline can have a compact view, e.g.:

Or a more informative one (as shown on the pictures in the article), depending on which fields you'd like to show on the tasks. But I love what you implying and will definitely share your vision with the team.

And what concerns the indicators, we use color-coding and -/+/= symbols to show when a person is over- or under-loaded.
