Hello Jira Community 👋
We're excited to announce a powerful enhancement to our Azure AD Attributes Sync for Jira app!
🙏 Thanks to our wonderful customers who shared their valuable feedback with us, we got to know that manually updating AD users' data can be troublesome.
To help admins face up to these challenges, in the latest version of the Azure AD Sync app we added the possibility to modify Azure AD user properties directly from your Jira tickets using a dedicated post function.
Streamlining User Data Updates
In organizations where user data frequently changes, such as employee promotions, department transfers, or office relocations, employees can now update their own Azure AD attributes directly from Jira.
For example, a team member who has been promoted to a managerial role can now raise a service desk ticket with his job title updated. After the manager's approval, this information will be automatically updated in Azure AD, ensuring that their profile remains accurate and up-to-date across all systems.
How It Works
The dedicated post function seamlessly integrates into your Jira workflow and can be combined with conditions and validators enabling users with specific roles and permissions to initiate Azure AD data updates directly from a Jira ticket.
Supported Jira Field Types
Users whose data can be automatically updated include Assignee, Reporter, Manager, and any user selected via the user picker. Azure AD user properties can be updated with data provided in Jira fields of text and user pickers types.
This flexibility ensures that you can efficiently update the necessary information, such as department, office location, phone number, job title, or other custom attributes, directly from the Jira ticket.
🎁 Benefits for Your Team
Enhanced Efficiency: Save time and effort by managing Azure AD user data without switching between Jira and Azure AD.
Reduced Dependency on AD Admins: Empower your Jira users with the ability to update their own information based on assigned roles and permissions, reducing the burden on Azure AD administrators.
Secure Self-Service: Jira workflow conditions and validators can be combined with the Update User Data post function ensuring that only users with the appropriate permissions can modify Azure AD data.
To take advantage of this feature, ensure you have the latest version of the Azure AD Attributes for Jira app installed.
