It's pretty much telling you the answer - it can't read your build.properties file. Check that it exists, has the permissions to allow at least "read", and what the content is.

hi Nic,i got that point and yeah this file is not exist in that directory...but in the documentation i read it has not been mentioned anything about build.properties in that directory.i put maven1.0 in c:/dev2/test....i dont know which build.properties should be put in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\build.properties.i mean what is the content of this file?

It looks like maven isn't picking up the files it should do, and if it's using a home directory, it's trying to find default stuff.

I apologise for misleading you by pointing at the file in your home directory - maven will look there when it can't find a specific build file that you may (or may not) have told it to. I should have said "that's a default, it's trying to tell you it can't read the file it should be reading".

Look at the settings carefully again.

  • Is maven_home set?
  • Are you running maven in the right directory?
  • Does that directory have a build.properties?
  • Is the build.properties in there readable, valid and has targets in it?

What targets are you passing to maven? From memory, the jira build-from-source build.properties specifically does not have the default maven target, so if you just say "maven", it'll not do much.

i checked those:(in addition i put maven and source of jira in C:\dev2\test)

  • YES i set MAVEN_HOME= C:\dev2\test
  • i change the directory to C:\dev2\test\jira>
  • YES there is build.properties in C:\dev2\test\jira
  • YES it is readable, valid but i dont know what do you mean about "has target"?
  • i pass war:war to maven.

thanks

i attached my build.properties but with txt extention
