What is the user key in JIRA API?

Paul Nichols September 24, 2013

I'm unclear as to what the user key refers to when trying to perform user operations through the JIRA api

Paul,

This returns the user key in the app_user table. It's related to the ability to rename users and stores the mappings.

In JIRA 6, all users have a unique key stored in this table that never changes.

This call returns such key or allows you to GET the results using this data.

Ah, I see: I read the documentation as saying both the username and the key need to be provided. Looks like one or the other will suffice. Thank you!

Yeah, from my tests, just one worked fine.
