We are looking at implementing JIRA Service desk and was hoping that we might also be able to intergrade provisioning and approval workflows.
Basically what we need to be able to do is provide a list of items (Hardware, Software) that a end user can request, get approval from their manager and then have it go to a admin/supply team for ordering. Once the good have been receipted a ticket would then be raised for each item that needs to be configured for distribution to customers. Pretty much your shopping cart or Service Catalogue experience.
Is this something that can be accomplished with this product or any of its addons?

Yeah, the new beta functionality will be perfect. For now they need to be agents, you need to use comments, or you can use the addon.
In JIRA Service Desk Cloud, there is a beta functionality to allow Approvals and other transitions. The current beta documentation, only avaliable in the cloud, is here – https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicedeskcloud/setting-up-approvals-816880004.html.
