Move sub tasks to Done when parent is Done?

We are using JIRA Agile, and just wondering are there any way to do the following:

When a parent transitions to the Done column, all its sub tasks should be automatically moved to the Done column as well.

Is that possible? (I know JIRA Agile has the opposite, that is move parent to Done when all its sub tasks are Done

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tim,

I'm afraid such feature is not available for JIRA/JIRA Agile yet. There's an open improvement being tracked at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-8946

However, it seems you can achieve that by using the Script Runner add-on:

https://jamieechlin.atlassian.net/wiki/display/GRV/Post+Functions#PostFunctions-Autocloseallsubtasks

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Clarissa.

THX for the JIRA ticket in Atlassian and the information on Script Runner. But we are not sure to enable Script Runner in our production system or not, as the Groovy aspects is very powerful.

There's now a very easy to configure way to transition parents and sub-tasks in sync using Automation for JIRA!

You can easily modify related issues (such as parents, stories, sub-tasks, epics, linked issues and even JQL) using our related issues action and condition:

(this example transitions sub-tasks to "In Progress", but you could easily change this to "Closed")

You could configure a rule that simply checks if all sub-tasks are closed and then transition the parent to a given step using the related issues action.
