Jira filter "not empty" returns empty field issues

Dear,

I have a custom field that returns a string or a null value.

When I use that custom field in a search " CustomField is not EMPTY " I'm also receiving the issues where that field is 'null'.

Could this be a bug, or do I need to return a different value to be "EMPTY" ?

Did you run a reindex after entering the script? If it's only for a specific project you can use the built in reindex script.

The comment from Henning solved the problem. Just had to reindex.

This script always returns null for the field value. Is that intended?

But yes, agree with Henning. You can reindex just one project or even one issue for testing purposes
